EDUCATION

Graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara_ Art Major with BA in Elementary School Teaching and a Special Secondary in Art. Further studies with well known professional artists: Harley Brown, Jane Burnham, Rose Eden, Ted Goerschner, Albert Handell Tom Lynch,

Susan Sarback, Marilyn Simandel, Urania Christy Tarbet, Edward Norton Ward, Clark Mitchell, Susie Stack ACA, Anne N. McClure PSA, Richard McDaniel and Libby Tolley.

 

TEACHING

            Public School- Art Class, grades 6, 7 and 8 - Sanger, CA- l years

             Private School - Art Studies, grade 9 - Charleston, SC - 2 years

            Private School - Fourth grade - Sullivan's Island, SC - 2 years

            Adult Education in Watercolor, Acrylic, Mixed Media, Oil, Pastel- Clovis, CA since 1994

             Private Studio Instruction in Acrylic, Mixed Media, Oil, Pastel and Watercolor- 30 years.

            Demonstrations, workshops throughout California and art seminars on cruise ship tours.

 

Kay's main objective in teaching is to draw out of the student their creative talent from within and to instill the principles of balance, design and color in their compositions. Many of her beginning students have progressed and become award winners.

 

SUBJECT MATTER

Mostly still lifes, florals and landscapes of her beloved native state from the ocean to the fertile San Joaquin Valley and the mountains where she spent her childhood summers. She is considered a colorist with bold brilliant color application. She enjoys experimenting with various mediums and styles and encourages her students to do the same.

She has been sought after to conduct workshops and for judging of many art shows. Her paintings are in private collections in the United States, Italy and Switzerland.
